The Mormon Lake Mountain Lodge is a rustic mountain getaway. There is forest service access from the back of the property and plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy. This home was custom built to enjoy the mountains. Mountain touches such as wildlife art, custom cabin furniture and even taxidermy can be found throughout this mountain retreat. There is a living area with a fireplace and TV as well as the kitchen and dining area on the main level. A large sun room is perfect for enjoying outdoor space year round. There is an additional living area with a 60" flat screen and game table in the upstairs loft. There are two bedrooms with jack-and-jill bathroom on the main level. There are two additional bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs off of the loft living area. The entire 1 acre parcel and 4 bedroom home are yours to enjoy. There is a single garage and downstairs area that is not accessible to guests. Our home is professionally managed with excellence by Tim Allen of West USA Realty Flagstaff. The two Guestrooms are also on the first floor, The Arizona Room has a Queen size bed and the Antler Room has two Twin Size Beds available, which can be seperated or put together depending on our Guests wishes. The Antler Room also has a washer and dryer in the closet. We also provide the finest linens and bedding to make your stay memorable. The Full Bath on the first floor offers a Bath/Shower Combination with a double shower head. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash is provided, as well as a full towel set for each guest. At the off-ramp stop sign turn right and travel according to the following directions: From Flagstaff: Take the Lake Mary Hwy (FH3) about 21 miles (towards Payson) to the Mormon Lake Village turn-off sign. Turn right and travel about 7 miles to the Turquoise Cabin. You will see the roping arena, campground, RV Park and Mormon Lake Lodge on your left, keep driving until you see the a Turquoise Cabin on your right side. From Payson: Take Hwy 87 north and go through Strawberry and Pine to the little village of Clint's Well. Just past the store and gas station, turn left and take FH 3 (Lake Mary Hwy) north towards Flagstaff. Travel about 35-40 minutes and you will pass the Stoneman Lake Road turn-off. About seven miles past the Stoneman Lake Road turn off you will see the south entrance to Mormon Lake Village - watch for the Mormon Lake Village sign on the right side of the road. Turn left and travel two miles to the the Turquoise Cabin located in your left Side. From I-17, on the Stoneman Lake Road: Get off I-17 on the Stoneman Lake Road turn-off and travel about seven miles on paved road to the end of the paving at a T-intersection with unpaved road. Turn left at the stop sign and travel about eight miles to the next paved road - FH3 (Lake Mary Hwy). Turn left and travel about seven more miles to the south entrance to Mormon Lake Village. Look for the Mormon Lake Village sign on the right side of the road. Turn left and travel two miles to the Turquoise Cabin located on your left side. NOTE: Stoneman Lake Road, while well traveled, is only paved for 7 of 16 miles at the I-17 end of the road; the rest of the road is graded cinder road and might not be suitable for some cars or may be closed in severe weather conditions. There are large "Mormon Lake Village" forest service signs at both north and south entrances. If you miss either entrance from the Lake Mary Hwy (FH3) you will have a marvelous view of the lakebed as you travel along the mesa road that overlooks the lake and the village on the opposite side. You can turn around and travel back to the nearest entrance or continue on to the next entrance. Mormon Lake Road (FH90) loops the lakebed and is accessed from either, the north, or south end of the lake. Munds Park Road is not recommended unless you have a good forest service map, are familiar with the terrain, and have a solid, high clearance vehicle. Watch out for elk and deer!

The property is over 1900 square feet with large deck on the front of the house and wrap-around deck on the side and back of the house. There is a slight view of the lake from the back that is about 50 yards away and national forest hiking is 20 yards away from the front door. Secluded in the quiet area of Munds Park, away from interstate noise and Pinewood traffic. Full-size washer and dryer, fully appointed kitchen with all appliances including microwave and dishwasher. All pots, pans, utensils, dishes, toaster, coffee maker, bake ware, basic condiments are there. It has a dining area, breakfast bar and huge main family room. There are 2 foodmarts/gas and 2 restaurants in Munds Park and an ATV rental shop and a gift shop. We typically go up to Flagstaff every few days when we need more food or want to catch a film or a festival. One Day Adventures: Many Northern Arizona adventures are close by, try the delightfully scenic drive to Oak Creek/Slide Rock and Sedona for world class dining and art galleries, only a 30 minute drive. Head north to Snow Bowl atop the SanFrancisco Peaks for some skiing and snowboarding in the winter or just lunch and a skyride in the summer. Many enjoy the Grand Canyon Railway scenic train ride from Williams, and Bearizona is really fun, the bears come right up to your car! Our kids favorite is Flagstaff Extreme, a crazy rope adventure park high in the trees located by the Flagstaff fairgrounds just 10 minutes from Munds Park. And don't forget Meteor Crater a short drive out of Flagstaff where you can see a massive crater formed by a meteor . So many wonderful day trips, and all close by for single day adventures! Our personal favorite is Downtown Flagstaff where you'll find great dining, shopping, art and entertainment, like outdoor movies in Heritage Square during the summer and terrific bands in the fall/winter evenings.

We have family-friendly DVDs, books and games for all ages. The dining area table seats four, with additional seating for two at the eat-at bar. A card table with four chairs is also available. The loft looks out beyond the pine trees to the lake beyond. In the open loft area is a recliner and lamp for reading or just relaxing. This is also where there is a desk in case you really have to do online schooling or work from the cabin as it is a great place to work from. . WiFi is free. There is also a table on the other side of the loft for a second work station. Challenge your friends/family to a game of darts, fooseball, pool, or cards in the recently renovated game room. There is also a TV and DVD player. A second stone fireplace is on this level, continuing the cabin feel. This fireplace has an electric insert which is also a space heater. In the spring, summer or fall relax on the deck with lake views, tall pines, and squirrels running hither and yon! Perhaps you'd rather sneak off with a book, or nap in the hammock under the tall pines. The patio table on the deck seats six, and the fire pit seats four. If you play so hard you need to wash your clothing, we have a washer and dryer set in the laundry room on the main floor, including laundry soap and dryer sheets. Munds Park is about 2 hours north of Phoenix, 18 minutes south of Flagstaff and 30 minutes from Sedona. You can head north to Snowbowl in about 50 minutes and the Grand Canyon is just 2 hours away for a nice day trip. Munds Park offers activities for all to enjoy - hiking, fishing, ATV riding and more. Our community of Munds Park/Pinewood has a scenic 18-hole championship golf course, The Pinewood Country Club, which is open to the public. There is also fishing, hiking, off road trails and beautiful mountain scenery. If you sit quietly on our deck, the squirrels will run up and down the trees in front of you, and some evenings you might even catch a glimpse of a deer or elk. In the winter, when there is snow, there are many places to make snow angels, sled, and have your snow ball battles. Snowbowl Ski Resort is less than an hour away. Hickman Hideaway truly has year-round beauty: Summer will provide a 20 - 30º temperature drop from the Phoenix area, with fabulous days and nights that cool down even more, just in time for a relaxing drink on the back deck. Fall brings the changing of the leaves, which seem to happen overnight. It almost sounds like you can hear the colors changing. Sit by the fire pit and watch the stars. Winter generally brings snow (but not guaranteed!) that is wonderful for sledding, making snow men, snow angels, or just taking a walking and enjoying the hush of a winter wonderland. After playing in the snow it is great to come into the central heating and enjoy a cup of hot cocoa in front of the fireplace. Spring is beautiful with the blooming wild flowers and perfect temperatures. It can surprise you with a May snowstorm, and the next day be a wonderful day to sit on the deck. We love pets, but we have guests that choose to stay at Hickman Hideaway because it is animal dander free. They count on us keeping it that way. We hope you understand. * We have security cameras. Full disclosure here, we have installed two security cameras on the front of the cabin. One faces the parking and walkway into the house, this one has audio and records. The other looks over the parking area and does not record, or have audio. The cameras are turned off once the guest has checked in, and are turned back on the morning of check out. We often see wildlife wander around the area. We have our hopes of seeing an elk, but most likely it will just be the birds and squirrels.
